I got my first guitar in 1966 and have been searching for tone ever since. Established as a business in 2019 after more than 20 years of repairing, modifying and restoring guitar amplifiers for friends and family and my own, searching for tone.
To provided personal, face-to-face service, direct involvement with the customer at whatever level of detail the customer wants. Most customers are very interested in seeing the inside of the amp, learning how it works, spending quality time with the tech and understanding the work performed.
This is a one-man operation in my home workshop. This helps me keep overhead costs low and maintain 100% control over the process. No handing your amp off to a clerk in a music store. My shop is fully equipped to handle every situation.
Speakers changes are the #1 way to change the sound of your amplifier. I can quickly and expertly swap the speaker in your amplifier, usually offering while-you-wait service. I also build and provide great replacement speaker cables, a serious improvement to the moldedcables provided in most modern amplifiers.
I use a very recently restore and calibrated Hickock 752A mutual conductance tube tester.
Convert your recent Fender reissue to a hand wired amplifier. Shown is a recent Princeton Reverb that has been completely gutted and rebuilt to the original blackface specs. All new Iron, fiberglass board, tube sockets, pots, jacks, switches, brass ground plate like the originals and vintage-spec wire, for less cost than buying a hand-wired version or an original.
"The only man I'll use." Looking for someone to check out my Traynor floor switch, I found Mike. Not only did he work the footswitch and explain it's inner working, he went through the Traynor amp with a fine tooth comb. Very knowledgeable and customer friendly. I also purchased a 1959 Bassman which I am very please with.
Mike is a true professional in every sense of the word. My amp has never sounded better. I am a customer for as long as he continues to work on amps. Everyone needs an amp guy and Mike just goes above and beyond. I would recommend him (and his amps) for all of your vintage amplifier needs.
Mike not only nails the tone of the original amps, he also provides smart, player-friendly options for contouring the tone for each player's taste and specific application.
